White Socks Only

Written By: Evelyn Coleman

Picture Book - Multicultural

Subtle and stirring, this tale-within-a-tale begins with an affectionate exchange between and African-American girl and her grandmother, then telescopes to encompass an electrifying moment fraught with personal and political significance

I loved this book, because it showed the innocence of little children being able to make a difference in the world. A little girl who thinks she can only drink from the drinking fountain that says whites only if she has her white socks on. This started a small movement in her town and gives hope.
